Whirlpool is Marion's largest employer with 2,384 employees.....we are in fact the dryer capital of the world with a capacity to make 23,000 dryers a day!
Nucor Steel Marion recycles over 385,000 tons of scrap steel to produce more than 350,000 tons of rebar and sign posts annually. Nucor’s Highway Products are used all over the world....as far away as New Zealand. They shipped the first load of rebar used in the foundation of the Freedom Tower in New York City. This steel plant has been in Marion for over 102 years!
Agronomy is the science of soil management and crop production and Morral Companies is all about agronomy. They custom apply over 150,000 acres each year with fertilizer and crop protection products. They have over 20,000 ton dry fertilizer storage and over 50,000 ton liquid fertilizer storage. Nearly complete at the Morral locations is an automated, state of the art liquid fertilizer production facility which houses 5 liquid fertilizer reactors. Morral Companies is one of the largest inland fertilizer distributors in Ohio and delivers quality products and reliable service to local, regional and national customers.
From its humble beginnings as a manufacturer of pallets and wooden boxes in the early 1900’s, The Royal Group has grown into one of the largest independent manufacturers of corrugated products and distributors of packaging supplies in the world.
POET Biorefining–Marion is currently expanding their footprint which will ultimately more than double the facility’s production capacity from 70 million gallons of biofuels per year to 150 million gallons. In addition, they will produce nearly 360,000 tons of high-protein animal feed, up from 178,000 tons at the current capacity. There are 28 POET Biorefining production facilities in seven states, annually producing 1.8 billion gallons of biofuels, 10 billion pounds of high-protein distillers grains and 550 million pounds of corn oil.
